Lynne Master, M.Ed., Owner/Director
Acknowledged as one of Michigan’s leading authorities on learning disorders, Lynne Master has served as a member of the graduate teaching faculty in the Clinical Psychology Department at Wayne State University; consults and lectures internationally, conducts in-service training for hospitals, school districts, mental health agencies, the United Auto Workers, and the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth. Her syndicated column has been published in more than nine newspapers; and she is a frequent guest on Detroit radio and television.
Ms. Master is the past President of the Education Industry Association and a charter member of the Education Industry Leadership Board. She provides expertise in numerous professional boards, including CH.A.D.D., the Gibson School for the Gifted and The Children’s Center. She is a member of the Learning Disabilities Association of Michigan, Michigan Association of Learning Disabilities Educators, Michigan Head Injury Providers Council, and the Michigan Inter-Professional Association.

Krista Bartlett, M.A.T., Education Director
Krista Bartlett earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and Master of Teaching from Wayne State University. She joined the Learning Disabilities Clinic as a teacher in 2004. Shortly thereafter she accepted the position of Education Director. She attends conferences, conducts teacher trainings, evaluates new materials, and approves LDC education plans. In addition, she continues with her first love of teaching at LDC.
Krista is married to husband Gary. They enjoy their two beautiful daughters, Paige and Reese. Krista enjoys traveling to cities across the United States, reading novels, and spending time with her large extended family and many friends.
Kelly Beard, M.A. CCC-SLP, Speech and Language Director
Kelly Beard, M.A. CCC-SLP, earned a Master of Arts degree from Michigan State University and has practiced in the field of Speech Pathology for nearly twenty years. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed by the State of Michigan to practice speech-language pathology. She joined the Learning Disabilities Clinic in 2003 and accepted the position of Speech and Language Director in 2010. She provides diagnostic and therapeutic intervention with children and adults who experience a variety of communication disorders. Her expertise ranges from articulation & phonology disorders, delayed or disordered language development, apraxia of speech, voice, and stuttering.
Communication disorders may exist alone or as part of a congenital condition such as autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, or cleft lip/palate. Kelly cares about providing an array of therapeutic services to help those in need at the Learning Disabilities Clinic. She is a passionate volley ball competitor and married to her husband, Todd Beard. Together, they share two wonderful children who enrich their lives daily, Brady and Ava Renee.
Sharon Smith, M.Ed., Business Director
Sharon joined the Learning Disabilities Clinic in the summer of 2007 to teach Chemistry. She accepted the position of Business Director in April of 2009. Sharon’s duties include oversight of all federal, state, school, and private contracts.
Sharon has been teaching all sciences for more than twenty years at a private girls’ high school. She and her husband have two sons, a married daughter, and a granddaughter.
